EFR-GSM

EFR-GSM is the most widely used codec in the world. It operates at 12.2 kbps, the basic rate for GSM phones, and is in every GSM phone. It is also the highest-quality rate in the AMR codec. Defined in the ETSI GSM 06.60 Enhanced Full Rate (EFR) speech transcoding specification, GSM-EFR has better speech quality and better robustness to network impairments in comparison to the GSM Full Rate codec (GSM-FR).
