Telenity
and VoiceAge enable wireless delivery of content-rich
multimedia services
Content is the killer
app as wireless handsets morph into micro-computers
with the kind of memory you had in your desktop
just a few years ago, and users now demand the
same multimedia services on their cell phones
as they get at their desktop PCs.
Monroe, CT and Montreal,
Canada, February 23, 2004 – Telenity,
a leading provider of IP-based service platforms
to the wireless industry, and VoiceAge, a leading
provider of technology for multimedia messaging
and content, today announced the integration
of Telenity’s Canvas™ Multimedia
Message Service Center and VoiceAge’s
SPOT xde® Server.
Content-based messaging
drives the multimedia market. The Telenity and
VoiceAge alliance supports Open Mobile Alliance
standards, and moves these specifications into
the next generation with support of more formats
and sophisticated content management for GSM
and CDMA networks. This means subscribers can
access and use multimedia messages and content
services as easily on their handsets as on their
desktop PC.
“When we’re
talking about next generation messaging we’re
really talking about content, and how to give
users the same wireless experience with multimedia
services that they take for granted when on
their desktop PCs,” says Laurent Amar,
president of VoiceAge. “We’re making
it practical and affordable for network operators
to quickly expand their MMS service offerings
by optimizing multimedia files for the receiving
device. Operators can just as aggressively brand
those offerings to protect their revenue growth.”
“For network
operators, choosing the right technology is
important to ensure that subscribers can send
and receive their MMS messages crisply and cleanly
across different networks,” says Bekir
Serbet, president and CEO at Telenity. “The
moment carriers can leverage multimedia messaging
with multimodality, location-based and content
services, they not only increase revenue but
also lower churn and raise ARPU. Just as significantly,
network operators can far more easily introduce
business models that now include the enhanced
network infrastructure, new services and content
to enrich the end user experience.”
