VoiceAge SPOT xde™ Pro adds new dimension to
GSM services worldwide.

Latest additions give truly global market penetration
to content creation software

Montreal, Canada, Monday December 9, 2002— VoiceAge Corporation today unveiled, the latest version of SPOT xde™ Pro, its industry-leading multimedia content creation tool. The key additional feature of the newest product is its 3GPP (Third Generation Partnership Project) audio standard .AMR output file format. The feature enables all GSM subscribers worldwide to experience the uniqueness of high-quality multimedia content over mobile phones, such as the Nokia 7650, through newly deployed MMS services.

SPOT xde™ Pro is compatible with worldwide GSM operators and Japan's NTT DoCoMo FOMA i-motion 3G service. "The introduction of SPOT xde™ Pro will promote fast deployment of AMR multimedia content for 3G services said VoiceAge Corporation president, Laurent Amar."
The latest version also allows encoding with the ACELP®.net codec, making SPOT xde™ Pro 2.6 capable of encoding content not only for portable phones but for PC's as well, using either Windows Media® Player or RealPlayer®.

About AMR

The AMR (Adaptive Multi-rate), mandatory 3G speech compression codec, is based on VoiceAge world-renowned ACELP® technology. It will also pave the way to the introduction of AMR wideband technology, the next revolution in speech quality for mobile phones. Compared to narrowband telephone speech, the low-frequency enhancement from 50 to 200 Hz contributes to increased naturalness, presence and comfort. The high-frequency extension from 3400 to 7000 Hz provides better fricative differentiation and therefore higher intelligibility. Users can download free of charge the SPOT xde™ AMR Decoder (http://www.voiceage.com/products/spotamr-decoder.asp) to playback on their PC audio content generated by MMS-enabled phone or SPOT xde™ Pro, thus facilitating communications between both the wireless and PC worlds.
