VoiceAge Launches SPOTxde™ Content Creation
Software for 3G Services

SPOTxde™ to make multimedia content compatible with
next-generation wireless networks

Tokyo, Japan, November 20, 2001—VoiceAge Corporation launched today SPOTxde™ the first ever 3G-compatible multimedia content creation software. SPOTxde™ enables content providers to encode and distribute rich content, combining audio and video, such as movie trailers, music files, customized advertising and news highlights to Internet portals and wireless handsets. Multimedia content generated with SPOTxde™ is designed to flow on the recently launched NTT DoCoMo's FOMA i-motion 3G service.

"Our customers are thrilled about SPOTxde™ seeing that it really boosts content diversity and quality of 3G services," said Laurent Amar, Vice President Strategic Planning and Business Alliances for VoiceAge. "SPOTxde™ is expected to be a key element for next-generation wireless and Internet multimedia services, and is projected to reach 1 billion users worldwide by 2010."
Based on the latest industry international standards such as 3GPP Adaptive Multi-Rate Narrowband (AMR-NB) for voice compression and MPEG4 for video compression, SPOTxde™ allows for an unsurpassed combination of high compression and playback quality. 3G subscribers will now be able to have rapid and affordable access to high quality multimedia content.

More than 100 users, including industry leaders such as Tsutaya Online Corporation, Toshiba Corporation, CYBIRD Co., Ltd., Hudson Soft Co., Ltd., and Asahi National Broadcasting Co., have tested and evaluated SPOTxde™ ensuring it meets expectations of users, providers and manufacturers alike.

"The capacity to actively contribute adapted content that will support the effervescence of 3G services is a business opportunity of significant magnitude", said Mr. Kouichi Shinozaki, General Manager, Media Group Mobile Strategies Team at Tsutaya Online Corporation. "With the variety of content available at Tsutaya Online, we are confident that SPOTxde™ will be the technology that will rapidly establish us as forerunners in the eyes of our daily visitors" concluded Mr. Shinozaki. Tsutaya Online Corporation has 1.98 million registered members for their website and cell phone services.
